ClayArt discussions from the past year or so can be retrieved using email. Complete instructions on how to do this follow.
ClayArt Archive Searches
Much of the earliest part of the ClayArt archive is no longer available, but you can get large chunks of the archives as log files by email and search them yourself (see below).
Your other alternative is to use one of these: www.reference.com or www.escribe.com to search, or try locating a site that maintains more than a few days of the UseNet news version of ClayArt: bit.listserv.clayart (try www.dejanews.com website) and search that.
a short tutorial by Richard Burkett, ClayArt co-listowner
If you're a member of the ClayArt listserv, you can check for information in past discussions on the list BEFORE sending your question to everyone on ClayArt. We may well have discussed your question before and answered all your questions. If you're not a member of ClayArt, see the note here on the CeramicsWeb on how to join.
Send the following command as the only message to listserv@lsv.uky.edu (remember DO NOT send it to clayart!)
INDEX CLAYART
and you'll get a list of available clayart archives by date. You can get these by sending the command:
GET CLAYART XXXX
where the XXXXs represent the file number. You'll see what these are when you get the INDEX. (more about multiple requests below)
As the INDEX is quite large and the files you can choose from even larger, you need to be sure that your Internet provider will allow you to receive email files in the 1 to 2Mb size range.
